Faith formation is catechesis (teaching the faith) which aims deepen people’s contact with Jesus Christ via educational and enrichment opportunities. Designed to touch the intellect as well as the heart, these programs help people live and experience a more Christ-centered life. In order to walk this path authentically and properly, it is necessary to understand how to relate to God. We need to know not only how to live but what it means to live to the fullest the gift of life God has granted to us.
At the Church of Nativity, we offer faith formation for young children (Prek-K), school-age children (1st-8th), teens, and adults. The purpose of faith formation is to give direction to our life. In doing so we are better able to share with others, to evangelize, our understanding of our Catholic Faith.
Preschool and Kindergarten
All children aged three to give are invited to join faith formation classes during both the 8:30 a.m. or the 11:00 a.m. classes. Children are released prior to the first reading and are returned after the petitions. Children will be accompanied by their teachers during this time. Parents are welcome to walk children back to the classroom as necessary.
Grades One through Eight
Classes are offered Sunday mornings from 9:45 -10:45 a.m.. All students are expected to attend faith formation classes regularly. Missed content during absences can be taught by parents by getting in touch with the catechist. Each year students are presented concepts of doctrine, church history, scripture, sacrament life, prayer, morality, social justice and the liturgical year in an age appropriate manner.
Teen classes are offered for students 9th grade + between masses from 9:45 a.m. -10:45 a.m.

Sacramental Preparation Classes
The Faith Formation program at the Church of Nativity offers a variety of sessions to help prepare for the sacraments. At least a one-year preparation period is required for the Sacraments of First Penance and First Eucharist. Foundation and formation is in 2nd grade. Confirmation preparation begins in 7th grade and continues on in 8th grade. Students in need of a sacrament outside of those ages/grades, should contact the faith formation coordinators.
